| Jim Powell Red Cross Home New Orleans Member List Donahue Story | ||
| Urgent! "We have just uploaded the New Orleans MCA-I (ITVA) member list. | ||
| Please access the list and let us know if you know about any of our colleagues situations. Thanks. Jim" | ||
| The following are the present reports concerning our Members and friends. | ||
| Kenan Branam, Houston (Rita) | ||
| Connie Terwilliger: "Just spoke to Kenan and he has evacuated Houston and is in Dallas at the moment" | ||
| Update from Clare Rabe DeBoever: They flew into Dallas yesterday on a private plane with his mother-in-law, who is in a wheelchair and on oxygen. The big mission was to get her a supply of oxygen to last through any problems the weather might bring here. Update Sept 27, 2005: We're back in Houston tonight. The worst is a stinky refrigerator and small limbs in the yard. Of course, we have things to plug in, reboot, relight, turn on, and clean up. Not to mention loading into brain RAM where we were before the diversion. We have much to be thankful for. | ||
| Phil Booth, Houston (Rita) | ||
| Clare Rabe DeBoever: "Phil Booth is hunkered down in Houston planning to ride it out." | ||
| Report from Phil: "I lost power for about 13 hours but that was the extent of my problems. We will now turn to and help the folks in East Texas. Again thanks for your concern." | ||
| Clare Rabe DeBoever: (Rita) "My company is on a high advisory alert. Have taken in some patients from that terrible bus explosion on the I-45 freeway today. We are prepared to handle a disaster if necessary. That's what we need to be prepared for. However, they've backed off from some of the extreme measures that were being issued yesterday." | ||
| J.D. Demer (Rita and Ophelia): "Folks say a prayer. My cousin, is missing from near Lake Charles. Not to worried, just did not leave with his wife and kids he was helping others, anyway he is officially missing. I have cleaned up the beach house from Hurricane Ophelia. Damage but it can be fixed." | ||
| Jim Powell (Rita-Son, Todd, lives in Houston): "Todd, Julia and son Ion evacuated with his in-laws to Camp Wood , Tx near Del Rio. " Update: "Todd called Sunday. All are ok, but anxious to go back." Update Sept 28: "Were back safe and sound. Everything here still standing." | ||
| G. Warren, New Orleans (Katrina) | ||
| Mary
Nicholes (MTSU): "G is staying with Mary.
She's not sure about her home but the initial information is that it was destroyed. Updates as soon as possible." |
||
| Update 9/27/05: "I just received a call from G. She told me that a neighbor has checked her house and that it was not as damaged as was originally thought. Some wind damage, but no flooding. She's returning this week." - Jim | ||
| February, 2006 A few weeks ago while working on our Hurricane Katrina documentary, Charlotte, Blake and I visited with G in New Orleans She told us that just a few days before our visit, the last of three families had just left. She also mentioned that long time New Orleans member and leader, Michael Adler, had lost his 2 story house. It was completely covered with water. Then upon our second trip to New Orleans on February 8th, we learned that G has passed away. There is no word why she suddenly passed. We will dearly miss her. | ||
| Lynn Hennagin (Katrina-Son, Greg, lives in Long Beach, Ms-Gulf Coast): "The first 10 blocks of Long Beach are gone. His house in the first half block is splinters." | ||
| Dave Donahue: Dave is a long time mentor from my radio days. He's a cajun, originally from the Bayou (pronounced "bi-oh." He taught me). Here's his Rita story that will help you through this. | ||
| Jim Powell: As I receive reports and requests for assistance, it will be posted. In addition, I will be posting the ITVA New Orleans Chapter list of members for you to check and verify if they need assistance. Check Sunday at noon for that list. Thanks. Jim | ||
